Solid Waste Management in Rural Communities of Developing Countries: An Overview of Challenges and Opportunities

Solid waste management (SWM) in rural areas of many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) represents a critical underrated topic. However, almost half the world’s population still lives an adequate SWM is crucial reducing environmental health threats. A lack knowledge appropriate tools often leads to inappropriate practices such as dumping uncontrolled burning. methods can transform into resources even guarantee revenue source. This manuscript provides overview state characterising communities LMICs, analysing common principal issues. Different solid fractions are considered. Virtuous approaches presented, taking account recent sustainable solutions. Considering that relevant part world living areas, benefits associated with may be enormous. Such activities improve local conditions from social, perspectives; furthermore, they have global impact on facing climate change pollution.
